to benefit

It is my pleasure to report that Booz…Allen & Hamilton will be sending a team to Nationals. I only got funding for about 9-10 athletes though, so it will be a small team. If things go well, hopefully they'll want to fund a bigger team next year.

One of the requirements for Booz to fund these kind of activities is to benefit something like a charity, so we're going to raise money for the Special Olympics through individual pledges. The more we raise, the better our chances for a team next year. Since the Special Olympics is already involved with this year's Nationals, I was wondering if they are having a stand or booth at the meet where people can donate or get information. Whether they do or not, Booz … Allen would like to put forth a:

Booz…Allen Challenge

(sorry it doesn't rhyme better) or if you prefer without the company name, a

Charity Challenge

for teams to raise money on their own for a charity of their choosing. They could publically present or announce their amount when their team is announced in the opening ceremonies. There could even be a simple award in the future for the company that raises the most money per runner. This would be an easy way to tie in charity without using USCAA revenue. It may also bring in more teams - if not this year, in future years - and ensure that Booz … Allen returns. Whattaya think?
